A casual street-level eatery, Momosan Waikiki, will serve yakitori, ramen and small plates for lunch and dinner, and include a beer garden. Located on the second floor, the hotel’s signature restaurant, Morimoto Asia, will feature dishes that integrate Western and traditional Asian ingredients. Warm, relaxed and contemporary, the Pacific Beach Hotel is one of the best values in Waikiki. On the food side, the hotel will offer contemporary dining concepts ranging from a buffet breakfast to fine Asia-Pacific cuisine. The hotel’s oceanarium will also undergo an extensive upgrade, with the interior of the aquarium featuring new coral that will mimic the coral reef formations found in the waters of Waikiki Beach. The pool deck will feature a new saltwater infinity pool overlooking the shoreline, a pool bar, tiered day beds and stepping stones leading to cabanas perched above a new shallow water pool for kids. Public spaces will include a reconfigured hotel exterior and lobby that will feature an open floor plan, new guest-services and concierge areas, lobby bar, an exclusive group arrival lounge, and a business and education centre. Natural materials, including wood, stone and concrete, and a palette of white and beige, accented by blues and greens, will be featured in guestrooms and suites. Situated close to Waikiki Beach and offering ocean and Diamond Head views, the hotel will reflect a modern beach house ambiance. Work on the public areas will begin in the coming weeks. Renovation of the guestrooms is underway, with a select number of new rooms available to book. Acclaimed design firm Rockwell Group and architectural firms WATG and Pacific Asia Design Group have been enlisted to redesign the guestrooms and public areas.įollowing the renovation, the hotel will rebrand as ‘Alohilani Resort at Waikiki Beach. Two new restaurants by celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto will be created for the hotel. The hotel’s exterior façade, 839 guestrooms and suites, and public areas including a 280,000-gallon lobby aquarium will be re-conceptualized, and a destination pool deck with two new pools will be added. The hotel will remain operational during the 18-month transformation, with expected completion in fall 2017. The total number of units is a little over 800. Again, I can’t wait to see the re-imagined resort and one day give it a try.HONOLULU, HI - Pacific Beach Hotel is undertaking a $115 million redevelopment that will completely transform the Waikiki hotel, it was announced mid-July. It has 2 different buildings, the front or Beach Tower and the back or Oceanarium Tower. I’ve never stayed at the Pacific Beach before, so I can’t say, but we shall see. If the property needed any technical work, like HVAC and what not, I’m hoping those things have been addressed. I just hope the redevelopment isn’t just all veneer. The property looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to see it in its final form. But the Alohilani Resort, on the other hand, is a hotel I’d like to give a try. If you are using the coupon it is suggested to make reservations as this is a very busy time. The coupon is valid between 5 - 6pm only & the buffet is 34.95 before discount. The Pacific Beach Hotel, a massive 839-room hotel completed in 1969, is not somewhere I would choose to stay. Re: Oceanarium Restaurant - Pacific Beach Hotel. Pacific Beach Hotel Transformation Final Thoughts The original Morimoto Waikiki at the Modern Honolulu will be replaced by Morimoto Asia Waikiki this winter and Momosan Waikiki in early 2018. And, of course, Masaharu Morimoto’s two restaurants are also currently under construction. Island Club and Spa, the property’s new fitness center, will open later this year, featuring two full-size tennis courts, training turf, and an equipment room overlooking the oceanarium. Nearly all the pools, pool deck, and the pool bar are still under construction. Though much of the work has already been completed, there’s a lot of work that remains. This theme continues throughout the rest of the property too. And now, the lobby is much more open and modern with a subtle island motif. That is a complete 180! The old lobby had low ceilings with dated, tacky decor. And you know what? The transformation is absolutely amazing. Completed projects include all guestrooms, the iconic oceanarium, one of the pools (keiki pool), the lobby, a new breakfast restaurant called Lilikoi, and a new lobby bar. Even if work on the property as a whole hasn’t been completed, many of the major projects already have been. Guests staying at the Pacific Beach Hotel today will already notice a huge difference. And, according to the Pacific Business News, most of that work is now complete, which means the property will soon re-emerge as the Alohilani Resort. The entire hotel, from top to bottom, is receiving work. And soon the hotel will re-emerge under a new brand.Īs I reported over a year ago, the Pacific Beach Hotel has been undergoing a massive redevelopment project. The Pacific Beach Hotel transformation project is nearing completion.
